Not enough votes: The HQCJ was unable to elect the new Head in two attempts

Today, June 20, the High Qualification Commission of Judges was supposed to elect a new Head, but it didn’t happen. Neither Ruslan Sydorovych nor Andriy Pasichnyk, the candidates for the position, secured the required majority of votes.

A total of 15 Commission members voted in two attempts. To be elected, a candidate needed to receive 9 votes. However, neither candidate achieved this. According to the rules, the Commission will hold new elections at a later date, which will be announced along with the new candidates. Ruslan Sydorovych and Andriy Pasichnyk will have the opportunity to run again.

We hope that by the next election, which will take place in the near future, those who were undecided today will make their choice in favour of one of the candidates. Effective leadership in the HQCJ is crucial for the efficient functioning of the judiciary in Ukraine. It is your responsibility to cleanse and shape the judiciary, without which a fair judicial system cannot be established.
