Roman Ihnatov resigned from the High Qualification Commission of Judges

Today, March 27, the High Qualification Commission of Judges (HQCJ) approved the application of Roman Ihnatov to resign from the HQCJ voluntarily. At the meeting, Mr Ihnatov claimed that it was his personal decision.

Nevertheless, the resignation of the HQCJ’s head seems to be a clear consequence of political pressure. It is obvious that a significant role was played by the allegations of Roman Ihnatov’s possessing a Russian passport, the existence of which was not confirmed by investigative journalists of reputable media outlets (including “Skhemy”, which previously found a Russian passport in Bohdan Lvov’s possession), nor by the working group comprising members of the HQCJ and representatives of the public.

Following Roman Ihnatov’s departure, the Commission now comprises 15 members, leaving one position vacant. The HQCJ members are expected to elect a new chairperson shortly.
