Parliament supported the draft law, which transfers the part of the cases from the DACK to the Supreme Court, in the first reading

The Parliament supported the draft law №5067, according to which some of the most important categories of cases of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv are transferred to the Supreme Court, in the first reading.

These are cases in which decisions of executive authorities are appealed. The appellate court in such disputes will be the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.

“Although this draft law is a movement in the right direction, it does not completely solve the problem of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv. This symbol of judicial corruption must be liquidated, and its judges subjected to thorough scrutiny by the renewed judicial governance bodies”

– said Mykhailo Zhernakov, Chair of the Board of DEJURE Foundation.

It should also be borne in mind that the Legal Policy Committee, headed by Andriy Kostin from the “Servant of the People” faction, has not been able to consider the “urgent” presidential draft law on the liquidation of the Kyiv District Administrative Court for seven months already (draft law № 5369).

We at the DEJURE Foundation believe that both draft laws should be finalized and adopted as soon as possible.
