32 against 22. Does the HQCJ agree with the negative opinions of the Public Integrity Council?

After five months of the qualification assessment, the results are as follows:

• Meetings were conducted by the HQCJ concerning 112 judges.
• The HQCJ reviewed 62 judges with negative opinions of the PIC.
• In 32 instances, the HQCJ overturned negative opinions of the PIC, allowing these judges to retain their positions.
• In 22 instances, the HQCJ directed the judges to be dismissed.
• In 8 instances, the HQCJ made alternative decisions, such as voluntary dismissal, suspension or termination of the qualification assessment.

It’s clear that the HQCJ has recently been moving away from the PIC’s recommendations, a shift that we hope is temporary. We anticipate that the Commission will soon recommend the dismissal of all judges of low integrity.

Currently, the slow pace of qualification assessment is due to delays in obtaining information about the judges. However, we expect this process to accelerate soon.
