Today, the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of the MP of “Sluha Narodu” Andriy Kostin as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with 299 votes.
Candidates Vyacheslav Talko and Olena Zaichko recommended by the Ethics Council cannot be considered decent. At the same time, the Ethics Council did not allow the judge-whistleblower Larysa Holnyk to further participate in the competition.
Ukraine must appoint a new decent NABU Director through a transparent competition and finally complete the competition for the SAPO Head.
Currently, the future of a fair court in Ukraine depends on the decisions of the Ethics Council.
The NGOs call on the Verkhovna Rada to amend the legislation to allow the HCJ to resume its work in the shortest possible time in accordance with the Constitution and the judicial reform initiated by the President of Ukraine.
On February 4, the draft law “On self-regulatory organizations” was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. The draft law would effectively allow Lidia Izovitova, Head of the Ukrainian National Bar Association, to be re-elected indefinitely.

Most of the judges on this list received negative opinions due to the non-declaration of property and covering up drunk drivers.
