The HQCJ recommends to dismiss the “Maidan judge” Izovitova-Vakim

Today, January 18, the High Qualification Commission of Judges in plenary recognised the “Maidan judge” Izovitova-Vakim as not suitable for her position.

During the Euromaidan, the judge adopted two decisions banning peaceful assemblies in Kharkiv. Firstly, she prohibited peaceful rallies from November 26 to 29, 2013. Subsequently, she extended this ban indefinitely the following day, curtailing protests altogether. Even the previous HCJ was forced to admit that the judge violated procedural law norms when considering these cases (decision dated 04.27.2017), but did not punish her in any way. The panel of the previous HQCJ recognised her as suitable for the position.

In general, Olena Izovitova moved up the career ladder almost at the speed of light. In 2009, she was appointed a judge when her mother, Lidia Izovitova, was the head of the HCJ. Already in 2011, Olena Izovitova-Vakim was appointed deputy head of the Kharkiv District Administrative Court.
