Parliament adopted the draft law № 5068 on cleansing the High Council of Justice in the first reading

The draft law was supported by 245 MPs.

The draft law does not take into account the positions of the experts and the Venice Commission. The draft law in its current version does not guarantee the decisive role of independent international experts in the process of cleansing the High Council of Justice.

“Before the second reading, the MPs must finalize the draft law in accordance with the opinion of the Venice Commission, which recommended providing international experts with a casting vote. We hope that the deputies will keep their promises and finally dare to reboot the High Council of Justice,“

Cleansing of the HCJ is one of the requirements of the Memorandum of Ukraine with the IMF.
