Pavlo Vovk Finally Dismissed from Office
The High Council of Justice has officially dismissed the odious head of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv (DACK), Pavlo Vovk, for committing a significant disciplinary offence. The HCJ made this decision unanimously.
Vovk filed complaints against certain HCJ members and attempted to challenge them during the hearing, but the HCJ rejected his motions. This time, the former head of DACK also sought to postpone the review, arguing that:
- He was on sick leave and was allegedly informed about the hearing too late;
- He had hired a new lawyer and filed a complaint against the decision of the Third Disciplinary Chamber regarding his dismissal;
- He considered the HCJ illegitimate.
All Council members, except Burlakov, voted against his request. After that, the Council unanimously decided to dismiss Vovk.

DEJURE Foundation welcomes this decision by the Council. The dismissal of Pavlo Vovk is a major step toward a truly cleansed and independent judiciary. Most likely, Vovk will challenge his dismissal in the Supreme Court. This will reveal whose interests the Supreme Court truly serves.
