More than 50% of Ukrainians support the liquidation of the DACK – the survey

This is shown by a study conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Center’s sociological service at the request of the DEJURE Foundation on August 3 to 9, 2021.

The urgent draft law on the liquidation of the DACK, submitted by the President in response to a petition that received 25,000 signatures from Ukrainians, has been in Parliament since April 13. Parliament has not yet considered the draft law in the first reading.

Meanwhile, almost 70% of Ukrainians consider the President’s efforts and actions on judicial reform insufficient.

“The position of Ukrainians is quite clear. First, the “urgent” draft law on the liquidation of the DACK and the transfer of part of its jurisdiction to the Supreme Court is collecting dust for five months in the parliamentary Legal Committee headed by Andriy Kostin of the “Sluha Narodu” faction. Secondly, the presidential decrees to revoke the appointment of the President of the Constitutional Court Oleksandr Tupytskyi are unconstitutional and together with the presidential-initiated competition for the CC to replace Tupytskyi, who de jure remains the President, only deepen the constitutional crisis. Third, the country has been waiting for two years for laws to clean up the HCJ and restart the HQCJ, and they have only just begun the process of cleansing the judiciary, the result of which we will see, at best, in a year. All this is the reason for such eloquent sociology”,

In the meantime, only 10.5% of Ukrainians are convinced that they have equal chances for justice in court, regardless of their status or finances. Instead, almost 80% believe that the richer or more influential party will win in court.

The study was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Centre’s sociological service at the request of the DEJURE Foundation NGO from August 3 to 9, 2021 in all regions of Ukraine except the occupied territories. The error does not exceed 2.3%.
