Why is it important to appoint the Constitutional Court judges

In Ukraine’s judicial system, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU) is the guarantor of the constitutional order and checks and balances. It is the only body that can annul laws, acts of the President, or acts of the Cabinet of Ministers if they are found to contradict the Constitution.

In wartime, its role becomes even more crucial, as it may consider highly sensitive matters regarding elections, mobilisation, the European integration process, international agreements, minerals deal, etc. The rulings in such cases will have a direct impact on the country’s stability, legitimacy, and survival.
